General information

The plugin “Pulsations” for CSi software (SAP2000, ETABS, CSiBridge) allows to calculate and apply pulsation (dynamic) part of wind load in CSi program models.

The load is considered in the form of either a modal SRSS combination or a response spectrum load case. The resulting values depend on the following structural and load properties:

The plugin main window is shown in the figure below.

  1. Combo box of the current parameter set selection. The plugin allows to store several sets of parameters for various wind load cases. The user can switch between them using this combo box, add and remove them using the buttons in the right of this area, and display data for all parameter sets in tabular form.
  2. Properties for the selected parameter set. Each parameter set has its own properties (settings). The user can change properties of the selected parameter set using this area. Description of a selected property appears in the bottom of the property table.
  3. Table of modes. This table allows to specify vibration modes, which will be considered during the calculation. Number, frequency and whether the frequency exceed the limit value are shown in the table for each mode. The “Principle mode” (”Основная форма”) parameter allows to specify the principle mode for selected wind direction (see below). This table is unique for each parameter set.
  4. Run calculation button. It runs the calculation and load application process. If the right part of the button is clicked, the drop-down list with additional options will appear. It allows to run calculation only for the current parameter set.

Operating order

Before running the plugin please make sure that the following data exists in an opened CSI model.

  1. Load pattern(-s) with applied mean (static) wind load in all directions of interest.
  2. Mass source for the pulsation (dynamic) wind load calculation. It is a common case to include permanent and temporary loads with combination factors (section 6 SP 20 [1]) into it.
  3. Modal load case for calculation of pulsation wind load. Mass source from the item 2 should be specified in it.

Click on the “Pulsations” button in the plugin selection window.
